Solano builds the whole film backward from a single funeral, and every scene peels away one more comfortable lie a family told itself. It should be unbearable. Instead it’s tender — she films grief the way other directors film a love scene.

The last shot is just a hallway. I’ve thought about that hallway more than most films I’ve seen this decade.
