The Quiet Room

A film almost entirely composed of waiting, and somehow never boring. Velmar shoots a single apartment over one winter and trusts the light to do the editing.

What stays with me is the sound design — the way a room with one person in it sounds different from a room that is simply empty. The camera knows the difference before the script admits it.

Not a film that announces itself. It just slowly becomes the only thing you can think about for a week afterward.
